In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) today, GT skipper Shubman Gill ended up enduring a very embarrassing moment in the wake of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler putting down an absolute sitter.
GT won the toss and put RCB into bat, and on the very fifth ball of the encounter, Mohammed Siraj, former RCB man, managed to get the outside edge of danger man Phil Salt.
Salt, who had a strike rate of 261 against Siraj before this encounter, gave the GT speedster the charge off the third ball he faced off him, in an attempt to absolutely clobber him down the ground. However, Siraj got the ball to move ever so slightly, and that in turn caught the outside edge of Salt.
The faint nick was going straight to the wicketkeeper, and all Buttler had to do was take one of the easiest catches of the season to send his countryman packing. The catch was so simple that Gill started his celebratory run towards the bowler even before the ball reached Buttler.
However, in arguably the worst and the most shocking drop of the season, Buttler ended up fluffing the straightforward catch. The ball went straight in, and straight out.
Gill had to abandon his celebratory run in disbelief. Buttler himself was shocked that he put it down, and even the RCB fans at Chinnaswamy could hardly believe what the former England captain had done.
