3 Indian Players Shubman Gill Might Ignore For All 5 Tests Against England

Here are three players who might not come into the minds of captain Shubman Gill and the team management while thinking about the playing 11

India have picked an 18-man squad for their tour of England in 2025. However, there are certain players who will surely miss the cut when it comes to being part of the playing 11 in the five-match series.

Here are three players who might not come into the minds of captain Shubman Gill and the team management while thinking about playing 11 on the England tour.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is the second choice spinner in the Indian lineup after Ravindra Jadeja. With Jadeja being able to provide crucial runs with the bat and playing two spinners would make the batting line-up weaker, Kuldeep might not feature in the playing 11 at all, until unless a very turning wicket is there, the probability of which is close to zero in early English summer.

Even if India look to go with two spinners, they might slot in Washington Sundar to provide an off-spin option against English left-handers, with him providing a better batting option.

Abhimanyu Easwaran

Abhimanyu Easwaran had a chance to impress all in the two four-day games against England Lions, but the India A captain failed miserably, scoring only eight and 11 in the first innings of both the games, although he improved his scoring in the second innings, scoring 68 and 80.

But it is the test of survival in the first innings as an opener that Easwaran failed to pass, and therefore he might not be in the reckoning with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal being the designated openers.

Akash Deep

Akash Deep was part of the India A squad for the two four-day matches against the England Lions ahead of India’s tour of England, but he was not part of the games with players like Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed and Tushar Deshapande preferred over him.

It is a clear indication that India would go with three proper pacers in every game and rotate between Shardul Thakur and Nitish Kumar Reddy as the fourth seam-bowling option. In that scenario, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna will be the first choice bowlers.

Therefore, even in matches where Bumrah will not play, Akash Deep will find it hard to be part of the team after a horrid tour of Australia, where he went for 270 runs to pick up five wickets at an average of 54. Akash is anyway not considered a swing bowler, so he being picked over the rest would be a bit too difficult.

India’s Squad For England Tour 2025

Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav
