Shubman Gill Set For Fitness Assessment Ahead Of Asia Cup 2025: Reports

The batter missed the ongoing Duleep Trophy game due to illness

Shubman Gill, India's new T20 International (T20I) vice-captain, will reportedly undergo a fitness assessment ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. He has reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru to undergo fitness tests.

Gill, who was named captain of North Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2025, missed out as he was recovering from an illness. He arrived in Bengaluru after fully recovering from it, ahead of his departure to the UAE for the Asia Cup on September 4.

Along with Gill, One-Day International (ODI) captain Rohit too has arrived for the fitness tests in Bengaluru. Rohit is expected to lead India in the series against Australia in October. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, who was not picked for the Asia Cup, also joins him, along with wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma.

Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shardul Thakur are expected to arrive at the Centre of Excellence for their mandatory assessments in the coming days.
