Kane Williamson Smashes His Second-Fastest Hundred In ODIs
Williamson smashed 11 fours and 2 sixes to bring up his hundred off just 72 balls
Kane Williamson is in the form of his life in ODIs, and there seems to be no stopping the New Zealand talisman in this format.
Williamson entered the ODI against South Africa today in Lahore with six fifties in his last seven ODI innings and having started the ongoing tri-series with a 58 against Pakistan in Lahore. He took his form to a whole new level against the Proteas, however, smashing his second-fastest hundred in ODIs.
Williamson smashed 11 fours and 2 sixes to bring up his hundred off just 72 balls, his second-fastest ever and his fastest in over 13 years.
Fastest hundreds for Williamson in ODIs
69 balls - vs Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, 2011
72 balls - vs South Africa in Lahore, 2025*
80 balls - vs Pakistan in Napier, 2015
Chasing 305, Williamson walked in at 50/1 in the 10th over. But after a slightly watchful start, scoring just 14 off his first 20 balls, the right-hander hit another gear and never looked back.
He brought up his 50 off 44 balls and then needed just 28 more balls to get to his ton. The highlight of Williamson’s knock was his onslaught on Ngidi in the 29th over of the chase, where he took the right-armer for 16 runs.
Williamson’s last eight ODI scores now read 102*, 58, 69, 14, 95, 78*, 53 and 85. He has not been dismissed for a single-digit score in ODIs for over six years.
