South African Speedster Replaces Sandeep Sharma In Royals Squad
Nandre Burger, who has already represented RR last year, replaced Sandeep Sharma in RR squad for INR 3.5 Crore
Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma, who had injured his finger while fielding against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, has been replaced by South African pacer Nandre Burger in the Rajasthan Royals squad.
Sharma had already played 10 games in the season for RR and picked nine wickets before the finger injury brought an abrupt halt to his participation in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, Burger had spent the 2024 season with the Royals, where he bowled in six games and picked up seven wickets at an average of 20.71 and an economy of 8.52. He joined RR for INR 3.5 Crore this season.
Earlier in the day, RR batter Nitish Rana’s replacement was also announced, where South Africa’s young swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter Lhuan-dre Pretorious replaced him.
The 19-year-old was the leading run-getter in the SA20 2025. Playing for RR’s sister franchise, Paarl Royals, he smashed 397 runs across 12 innings at an average of 33.08 and a strike rate of 166.81. Overall, Pretorious has 911 runs in 33 T20s at an average of 27.60 and a strike rate of 147.17.
RR, meanwhile, are already out of the season and are currently on the ninth spot with just three wins in 12 games.
