As Day 1 of the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) comes closer, there is an update from the Shahrukh Khan owned Los Angeles Knight Riders. After a long wait, the franchise have finally announced Sunil Narine as their skipper. The Trinidadian has featured in several Knight Riders franchises, but this will be his first time donning the captaincy hat.
"I've always spoken about wanting to represent the Knight Riders wherever they play," Narine said in a press release issued by the Knight Riders.
"We've long talked about coming to the United States and I'm glad it's finally happening. As captain of this side, I am looking forward to the challenge. There are a lot of experienced guys in this team who I can bounce information off, so it will be an exciting time for us. We hope for all Knight Riders fans in America to come out and support us, and all those around the world to keep cheering for us."
Apart from that, the franchise also announced Phil Simmons as their head coach, along with Ryan Ten Doeschate and Bharat Arun as their bowling and fielding coach, respectively.
LAKR feature multiple international stars in their squad including Adam Zampa, Andre Russell, Jason Roy, amongst others. They begin their campaign by taking on the Texas Super Kings at the Grand Prairie Stadium on July 14.
