During a conversation with Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar on air, CSK legend Suresh Raina might have leaked that he could be the franchise’s next batting coach, on May 25 (Sunday).
The incident happened during CSK’s 83-run win over table-toppers Gujarat Titans, where Raina, part of the commentary box, spilt the beans. Since then, the conversation between the three has gone viral before being handed copyright strikes.
However, it was viral enough to be asked at the post-match press conference, where CSK’s assistant coach Sridharan Sriram remained tight-lipped.
“I don’t know. I have to ask him if he said that,” Sriram said during the post-match press conference of the Super Kings’ match against Gujarat Titans.
As it stands, Michael Hussey is currently donning the role of batting coach, as the franchise finished tenth for the first time in IPL history. Sriram still backed CSK’s auction strategy, stating that they didn’t do too poorly despite a horrific finish in the season.
“These are forced changes. There were injuries that happened, and we had to replace. Fortunately for us, the people who replaced, came in and did well. I won’t go back and dig too deep into it, saying we made mistakes at the auction table,” Sriram added.
