The third edition of the T20 League Mumbai (T20M), which was supposed to kick off with fanfare on May 27, will no longer be able to do that after India-Pakistan tensions led to the IPL’s suspension for one week on May 9.
However, the restart of the richest cricket league in the world was announced, and it will begin from May 17 and last till June 3.
Due to a rule mandating that no state league should take place at the time of the IPL, T20M will now be pushed back beyond June 3. Similar is going to be the case with the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), which was supposed to begin on May 31 and last up till June 15.
“We are waiting for formal clearance from the BCCI regarding the revised window. As soon as we get a go-ahead, we will announce the revised fixtures,” Kamlesh Pisal, the MHCA secretary, was quoted as saying to Sportstar.
“The IPL has just been rejigged, so it’s understandable that it will take a few days more for T20M to be reorganised,” Abhay Hadap, Secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), told the same publication.
