Team India Batter Suffers Massive Injury Setback Ahead Of Home Test Season: Reports
He has been in sublime form ahead of the home Test season
In what comes as a massive blow to Sarfaraz Khan’s hopes of making a comeback to the Indian Test side, the batter is believed to have picked up a Quadriceps injury that is set to rule him out of the Duleep Trophy.
According to a Times of India report, Sarfaraz is said to have picked up the injury during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Chennai.
"Sarfaraz is suffering from a quadriceps injury, which he picked up while scoring a century against Haryana in the Buchi Babu event five days ago. He's set to be out for almost three weeks, and is currently rehabilitating at the CoE," TOI quoted a source as saying.
It’s an unfortunate blow as Sarfaraz was in sublime form in the Buchi Babu Trophy, posting scores of 138, 36 & 111 in the three innings he batted. Fitter than ever, having lost a whopping 17 kgs during the off-season, the 27-year-old looked in prime touch during the exhibition tournament.

Considering India’s first Test against West Indies starts on October 2, this is a very untimely injury for the right-hander, who lost his place in the Test team after the last home season. The 2025 Duleep Trophy, where he was set to represent West Zone, was seen as Sarfaraz's chance to break back into the Test team.
As of now, Sarfaraz has played six Tests, all at home, and has managed 371 runs at an average of 37.10. He has a century and three fifties to his name.
