It was yet anything commanding away win for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 as they dismantled Rajasthan Royals (RR) by nine wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Opting to bowl first, RCB were defensive in their bowling approach - focusing more on containing runs than picking wickets on what was a sluggish wicket to bat on. As a matter of fact, barring Yashasvi Jaiswal, none of the Royals batters could open their arms and aim for the skies, and the hosts were restricted to 173/4.
Later, with Phil Salt and Virat Kohli leading the run-chase, RCB cantered their way to victory in just 17.3 overs, securing a nine-wicket victory. Sanju Samson, the Royals skipper, owned up to his team's mistakes but added that toss played a crucial role in the game.
“Got to say toss helped. After losing the toss on a slow wicket, 170-odd was a really good score. It was hard to bat in the powerplay. I knew Salt and Kohli would come hard at us. They won the game in the powerplay,” Samson said in the post-match interview with the official broadcaster.
“They also dropped our catches; we also dropped their catches. It is okay; they batted better. Have to give it to RCB, their intent was better.
“I would have liked to take this game to the 19th or 20th over. People have been honest in saying they committed some mistakes. We are in a good mindset. We have to put this game behind us, come back fresh, and be confident about the next game. Need to keep these things aside and come back confidently.”
