Travis Head announced his comeback to form as he smashed 76 off just 40 balls in Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)’s last league game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on May 25 (Sunday).
Head, who had just two fifties to his name in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, before this knock, had not been able to hit even a single six in the power play in his last nine innings. He reached his fifty in just 26 balls.
In fact, in his last five innings before this game, the Australian did not cross the 30-run mark in the IPL. With the World Test Championship (WTC) final coming up next, the Australian team, with Pat Cummins as skipper, who is also Head’s captain for SRH, would have asked for nothing more than what Head delivered.
However, after being at the peak of his form, Head got out against the run of play, getting caught by Andre Russell off the bowling of Sunil Narine. Head looked in sublime touch, hitting five fours and seven sixes on his way to his highest score this season.
