NEWSAustralia have confirmed that Travis Head, who was initially picked in the T20I squad to face Sri Lanka, will not be taking part in the first three games of the series, and will instead feature in the Sheffield Shield to prepare for the three-Test series against Pakistan in March.
South Australia take on Victoria at the Adelaide Oval in two days’ time, and Head, who was Player of the Series in The Ashes, will be representing the Redbacks, owing to which he will be taking no part in the first three T20Is of the series.
All-rounder Daniel Sams, who last represented Australia in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand last year, will take the southpaw’s place in the squad.
Head, however, will return to the squad for the final two T20Is of the series, both of which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The first T20I of the five-match series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday, February 11.
