Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad looked flustered after his team lost three games in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with the third loss coming on April 5 (Saturday) against the Delhi Capitals. The Super Kings, playing at home, lost the game by 25 runs while chasing 184 to win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Reacting to it, Gaikwad answered in frustration, “Since the last few games it's not going our way. We are trying to improve, trying our best but not going our way.”
“We are giving away 15-20 runs extra or losing too many wickets. We are trying, but it's just not happening,” added the 28-year-old.
KL Rahul, who was announced as Player of The Match for his maiden half-century of IPL 2025 (77 off 51 balls), explained why he did not open in the first match that he played.
“I was preparing to play at the top of the order before the IPL started and before I came here. I had a chat with the coach, and he wanted me to bat at No. 4 because one of our senior players didn't turn up, and I said okay. Happy that I got an opportunity to bat at the top of the order today,” he said.
Delhi have now won three in three this season, and skipper Axar Patel couldn’t be any happier.
I didn't expect it to be easy (winning three on the bounce). Everyone contributed, the team balance looks good. Feels good as a captain to win three out of three,” Axar said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
The Delhi captain also revealed why he bowled only one over in the match. “I was saving myself (on not bowling much today), and I also have an injured finger. I wanted to bowl but didn't want to risk it as it's a long tournament,” added the 31-year-old.
