USA On Verge Of Suspension After Non-Compliance With ICC Norms: Reports

The issue with US cricket dates back to a period of July 2024 when the board was put under notice by the ICC for "governance-related non-compliance issues"

Despite pressure from the ICC and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) for USA Cricket Chairman Venu Pisike to step down, he remains adamant and has refused to resign, according to a report in The Times of India. Nadia Gruny, who volunteered to resign and help with the transition, was abruptly removed from the board.

In a meeting on July 13 (Sunday), Pisike in fact, proposed to terminate the agreement with American Cricket Enterprises (ACE), who operate the Major League Cricket (MLC), a T20 tournament sanctioned by the ICC. This comes just a couple of weeks after USA Cricket showed its support publicly.

However, the resolution never passed after Pisike was reminded of the directives issued by the ICC and USOPC.

The USA hosted the T20 World Cup in 2024, and the national team made it to the Super 8s after beating Pakistan and, as a result, booked their place in the 2026 edition as well. Moreover, cricket will be played in the Olympics for the first time in over 100 years, which will be hosted by Los Angeles.

The potential suspension of US cricket could put both in jeopardy. The issue with US cricket dates back to a period of July 2024 when the board was put under notice by the ICC for "governance-related non-compliance issues". But on July 18, the ICC had ordered Pisike and other board members to voluntarily step down.
