Faf du Plessis returned for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after missing four games prior to this. He would have expected to have had a blistering start at the top of the order against his old team, RCB.
However, the 41-year-old Proteas batter struggled to get going and impart any sort of rhythm to his innings. He could score only 22 runs in 26 deliveries, and only two shots from his bat managed to reach the boundary. He succumbed to Krunal Pandya after an excruciating knock.
The senior Pandya tossed the ball to him in the 10th over on his legs, and du Plessis cleared some space by moving away his front leg and tried to smash it down the ground.
However, just like the deliveries before that on the day, he failed to get any connection on it and was caught by Virat Kohli, who made no mistake. Kohli was seen instructing Pandya how to bowl to du Plessis, and Pandya did exactly that.
Kohli was absolutely pumped to catch out his former RCB opening partner and skipper after planning that wicket with senior Pandya. He celebrated in his usual style by throwing his arms and letting out a huge, aggressive roar as his teammates surrounded him in jubilation.
Du Plessis, so far, has had a season troubled with injuries and has only played three games, scoring 29(18), 50(27), and 2(7) apart from the 22(26) he scored today.
