Virat Kohli drops to 14th spot in latest ICC Test rankings

While Kohli and Pujara continue to slip, Shreyas Iyer has made big strides

Following twin failures against Bangladesh in the second Test in Mirpur, Virat Kohli has dropped to 14th spot in the latest ICC rankings for Test batters. After posting scores of 1 & 19* in the first Test, all Kohli could manage in the second was 24 & 1. As a result of the back-to-back failures, the former Indian skipper has slipped to 14th spot. He has 676 rating points to his name and is 31 shy of the 13th placed Jonny Bairstow.

Cheteshwar Pujara is another Indian batter who has gone down in the ratings, slipping to 19th spot. After scores of 90 and 102* in the first Test, Pujara failed twice in Mirpur, getting dismissed for 24 and 6.

But while Kohli and Pujara continue to slip, Shreyas Iyer has made big strides. With scores of 86, 87 and 29*, Iyer has jumped 10 spots and has moved to 16th. The 28-year-old is now only 10 points behind Kohli.

Litton Das, who struck a whirlwind 73 in the second innings in Mirpur, is now within striking distance of the Top 10. He’s moved to 12th with 702 rating points and is 17 shy of 10th-placed Usman Khawaja.

Coming to the bowling side of things, Ravichandran Ashwin has moved up a spot and is now joint-fourth in the rankings for bowlers. He has 812 rating points, the same as fourth-placed Jasprit Bumrah.

Ashwin, thanks to a match-winning 42* in the second innings in Mirpur, has also consolidated his second spot in the all-rounder’s rankings.
