Virat Kohli plays his 200th match for RCB

Here are a few noteworthy stats from the game between RCB and KXIP

The contest between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab saw a few milestones achieved. Here is a look at the statistical highlights from the 31st match of IPL 2020:

Virat Kohli’s 200th match for Royal Challengers Bangalore

Just a few matches ago, Virat Kohli became the first batsman to 6000 runs for a franchise in T20s. In Match 31 against Kings XI Punjab, he set another record as he featured for the 200th time for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Since the start of the franchise's journey in T20s, Kohli has been a part of it. As a captain he has played 118 matches for the Bangalore-based franchise. He thus became the first player to represent a team for 200 matches.

Most runs as a captain in IPL

Kohli etched another record in IPL to his name in his match against Kings XI Punjab. In his knock of 48 runs off 39 balls, Kohli went past MS Dhoni’s tally of 4275 runs as a captain in IPL. Kohli as a captain in IPL, has 31 half-centuries and five centuries. His 36 scores of over 50 is the most by a captain in the league. With both, Kohli and Dhoni playing currently, the competition is even-stevens. Considering the amount of chances Kohli gets as he bats at the top order, the chance of him emerging the winner is a high probability.

Yuzvendra Chahal bags his 200th T20 wicket

Undeniably, the legspinner has been a revelation in T20s. The courage with which Yuzvendra Chahal bowls is one of the main reasons why he is so consistent among the wickets. Stuck on 199 prior to the match against Kings XI Punjab, with the wicket of Mayank Agarwal in the 8th over, he reached 200 wickets in T20s. He is the fifth Indian in T20s to bag 200+ wickets, all four at the top have been spinners. Piyush Chawla with 257 wickets leads the chart among Indians in T20s.

Kings XI Punjab do the double against Royal Challengers Bangalore

Considering the amount of talent in the Kings XI Punjab setup, the position they are in now is something that they have bought for themselves. In a few of the matches they came close but messed it up at the end. In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore as well, they had almost made a mess of the chase. However, they managed to get their second win in eight matches this season, both of them against Bangalore. By virtue of this win against Bangalore they did the double (Win in both legs in a season) against the Bangalore franchise. This was the fifth season in which Punjab has managed to achieve it against Bangalore in IPL. In 2008, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2020, Punjab had won both their matches against Bangalore.
