Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma among 6 Indians in ICC's team of 2023 World Cup
The XI also features two from Australia, one each from New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka
The top two run-getters in the 2023 World Cup, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have been included in ICC's team of the tournament. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are the other Indians who have been included in the XI.
Kohli recorded the most runs in a single World Cup campaign with a staggering 765 runs at 95.62, while Rohit, who finished as the highest run-getter in the 2019 edition, is second, finishing just three runs more than South Africa's Quinton de Kock.
World champions Australia have Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa, are the only two representatives from their side after playing pivotal roles in their side's record sixth World Cup title.
Partnering Rohit, the captain of this side, at the top will be de Kock, who in his final World Cup, slammed 594 runs at 59.40, including four tons, as his side crashed out at the semi-final stage. De Kock will be the wicketkeeper for this side ahead of Rahul, having inflicted 20 dismissals in the tournament.
New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell who had a stellar campaign with 552 runs at 69, including a couple of centuries against India too finds his name on the list.
Amid a forgettable campaign, Dilshan Madushanka, with 21 wickets at 25 for Sri Lanka, is rightly included with Bumrah and Shami as his pace partners. South Africa pacer Gerland Coetzee, who had a breakout tournament, scalping 20 wickets at 19.80, is the team's 12th man. In fact, no South African bowler has picked up as many wickets as him in a single World Cup edition.
