In what could be called the biggest news of the Indian domestic season of 2025-26, one of the greatest, if not the greatest, 50-over batters, Virat Kohli, confirmed his availability to feature in India’s premier 50-over domestic tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
The development unfolded on December 2 (Tuesday), when the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley confirmed Kohli’s availability to leading media houses.
"Yes, that's right. He has given his availability," Jaitley was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
However, Jaitley could not confirm if Kohli would play the entire tournament or feature in only a handful of games.
The last time Kohli played the VHT, he had only made his ODI debut for India. So far, he has appeared in 14 games in the competition, but has amassed 819 runs at a stunning average of 68.25 and a more than decent strike rate of 106.08.
The 2025-26 edition of the tournament will be held from December 24 to January 18, and Delhi will play their group stage encounters in Alur, Karnataka. They have been placed in Group D alongside Gujarat, Services, Saurashtra, Odisha, Railways, Haryana and Andhra.
