Washington Sundar might not have made the cut for India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, but the young all-rounder will regardless be getting valuable experience under his belt this month having signed up to play for Hampshire for the remainder of the County Championship 2025 season.
Sundar will play Hampshire’s last two County Championship matches in Division One, against Somerset and Surrey respectively, which will be played later this month.
“Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar will join Hampshire for the final two rounds of the Rothesay County Championship,” the club confirmed in a statement.
Sundar is no stranger to County Cricket, but his last appearance in domestic cricket in England came back in 2022, when he represented Lancashire in both the County Championship and the One Day Cup.
The 25-year-old is coming off a stellar series against England where he shone with both bat and ball, averaging 47.33 with the bat while taking 7 wickets with the ball, including a four-wicket haul at Lord’s. In the fourth Test at Old Trafford, which India sensationally saved, Sundar brought up his maiden Test ton, batting alongside Ravindra Jadeja in the third innings.
