Every time a batter hits a one-handed six, Rishabh Pant’s name is certainly on commentators’ lips. It was a similar tale in the first WODI between England and India, on July 16 (Wednesday), as Deepti Sharma smashed a one-handed six in Southampton.
The incident happened in the 38th over of the run chase, when the Indian all-rounder smashed England pacer Lauren Bell for a pose-worthy one-handed six at The Rose Bowl, shocking one and all. She was in total control of the shot, as the ball went sailing well beyond the stands in the deep mid-wicket region.
While Jemimah Rodrigues immediately nodded at Deepti’s innovation, the commentators too couldn’t help but compare that shot to Pant, who has made a living out of doing similar things on the field.
At the time of writing this, India were within touching distance of a famous win against England in Southampton, to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
