The Indian women’s team are in slight trouble batting first at Lord’s in the second ODI against England, as they lost their third wicket in the form of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in just the 12th over of the rain-curtailed 29-over-a-side game.
Skipper Kaur had had a poor tour of England coming into the second ODI at the iconic ground, with scores of 1, 23, 26, and 15 in the T20I series, and a 17 in the first ODI. She looked frantic ever since arriving at the crease, trying to clear the in-field with her lofted shots.
She even got a boundary on her first delivery that should have calmed her nerves; however, the Indian skipper looked to keep up the ante against the tight bowling of Sophie Ecclestone and paid the price on the last ball of the 12th over.
Ecclestone bowled the ball within the stumps, and it was forced through quicker as well. Harmanpreet looked to cut the ball, but it was too close to the body, and hit her off-stump.
The left-arm spinner looked really elated after getting the Indian skipper and let out a boisterous roar in jubilation. Soon after, by the time this report was written, she had already dismissed Richa Ghosh LBW, as India are struggling with five wickets down within 18 overs of the first innings.
