Harmanpreet Kaur entertained her fans and the supporters of the Mumbai Indians quite a lot in the Eliminator against Gujarat Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. She scored 36 off just 12 deliveries and thrashed the Giants bowlers into oblivion by hitting them for four huge sixes and two fours that went like a tracer bullet to the boundary.
She came into bat after Hayley Matthews was dismissed for 77 off 50 deliveries and continued adopting her monster avatar. Starting off her innings by hitting a six above sweeper cover on her fourth ball against left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwer, she smashed Kanwer for two more boundaries right after that and ended the over with a huge six over deep midwicket.
Then she smashed the first two balls of the last over bowled by Meghna Singh for two more sixes over long off. She looked in a disastrous mood with the bat and was clearing the stumps to make room to go over the off side. MI’s score could have been even higher had she got to bat for the remaining deliveries of Meghna’s over. She scored her runs at a strike rate of 300, which is the second-highest strike rate for a batter in WPL history (who has played a minimum of 10 deliveries).
Eventually, MI ended with the third-highest WPL total, which is the highest in the history of the WPL knockouts.
