Coming in at six following the dismissal of Ben Curran, Wessly Madhevere played a handy counter-attacking knock of 31 off 36, before an outstanding catch from Harry Brook at second slip ended his stay at the crease in the one-off Test at Trent Bridge on May 24 (Saturday).
His catch was so good that his skipper, Ben Stokes, who was bowling at that point, was left stunned by what Brook had done. The extra bounce on the ball surprised Madhevere, and the 24-year-old just poked at it outside. Brook pounced on the outside edge, jumping to his right and plucking the catch out of thin air.
That was a vital wicket for England as the pair of Madhevere and Sikandar Raza had added 65 for the fifth wicket at almost a run-a-ball pace. Zimbabwe were still 93 runs behind when the batter was dismissed.
Earlier in the innings, Sean Williams slammed 88 off just 82 and put on 122 for the third wicket with Curran to give Zimbabwe some stability. The Cheverons were bundled out for 265 in response to England's 565. Brian Bennett struck a sublime century in the first innings, but it was not enough to help his side avoid the follow-on.
In the end, England completed an easy win by a margin of an innings and 45 runs.
