Jofra Archer continued to make a bunny out of Shubman Gill in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the game between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 9 (Tuesday) in Ahmedabad. He cleaned up Gill’s stumps with a corker of a delivery in the third over, and the GT skipper departed for just 2(3).
GT lost the toss and were sent in to bat first by Sanju Samson. Archer, continuing from his last game against Punjab Kings, started breathing fire from his first over itself and tested both Gill and Sai Sudharsan with his bouncers.
When he returned back in the third over, his first delivery to Gill was on the money as he bowled a fuller length ball that felt like swinging just a bit away, but it came in after pitching on the seam as Gill played down the wrong line. His flailing bat couldn’t meet the ball as his stumps were shattered.
Archer has had Gill’s number in the IPL for a long time. GT’s skipper has been dismissed thrice by the English pacer in 15 deliveries and averages just 3.3 against him. He now also has the second most bowled dismissals in the powerplay since IPL 2023.
