WATCH: Ross Taylor Opens The Bowling In Legend 90 To Leave Commentators Stunned
The incident occurred in the clash between Delhi Royals and Dubai Giants
Across the 450 international matches he played, New Zealand’s Ross Taylor sent down a total of just 141 balls, picking a total of three wickets with his off-spin. Taylor was capable of rolling his arm over but that was a very rare sight, with captains, more often than not, throwing the ball to him as a ‘joke’.
But on February 13 (Thursday) in Raipur, the 40-year-old unlocked a whole new side of him by opening the bowling in the Legend 90 clash between Delhi Royals and Dubai Giants. That’s right, Taylor OPENED THE BOWLING in a contest with his off-spin.

Delhi Royals captain Bipul Sharma’s decision to throw the ball to the New Zealand legend stunned the commentators, who could barely believe what was unfolding in front of them.
How did Ross Taylor fare with the ball in hand?
Much to everyone’s surprise, the New Zealand legend made a solid start with the ball in hand, conceding just one run across the first two balls of the over - two dots and a wide.
However, that proved to be the calm before the storm. Dubai Giants opener Naresh Kashyap eventually managed to line Taylor up and smashed two sixes across the remaining four balls to take 16 from the first over.
Taylor did not bowl in the match again, and skipper Bipul’s gamble did not pay off. However, that counted for little as Delhi anyway ended up registering a thumping six-wicket win, with left-arm spinner Bipul leading the way with 5/21.
Funnily enough, Taylor’s services were not required with the bat at all. He was still in the dugout, padded up when Delhi hit the winning runs to get over the line.
