India’s Shubman Gill took a brilliant running catch to remove Harry Brook during the second ODI of the three-match series against England on February 9 (Sunday) at the Barbati Stadium in Cuttack.
It was a great catch as Gill was running back from mid-off towards long-on and the ball was travelling quite well. However, Gill kept his calm and dived full stretch to get hold of the ball with both hands.
The dismissal also ended the 66-run partnership between Brook and Joe Root for the fourth wicket. Having started slowly, the partnership was building well.
However, Harshit Rana, in his second spell, experimented with a short ball and Brook could not get the desired connection, eventually being unable to get far away from a running Gill.
For Brook, a very placid tour to India continued. He has just one fifty to his name and, so far, has been unable to get going after having a tremendous tour to New Zealand, just ahead of his India visit.
