Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh felt that losing a couple of extra wickets at the beginning proved vital in their 20-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Chasing 154 on a tricky pitch, Punjab lost their top three by the eighth over with 58 runs on the board. The wicket of key batter Liam Livingstone further added pressure as they restricted to 133/8 in 20 overs.
"They bowled really well. I think we lost a couple of big wickets at the start. We could've extended the chase a little more to win," Arshdeep said in the virtual press conference.
Punjab are seventh in the table after nine matches with five losses and four wins. Arshdeep hoped his team can execute their plans to make it to the playoffs.
"We know that every match is a must-win from here on. We will try to execute whatever we are doing in practice," the left-arm pacer said.
While claiming just three wickets from nine innings, Arshdeep has been one of the economical bowlers this season at 7.7 RPO.
"I can't rate myself about my performances, because I want my team to do well. Im happy with my performances this season and am grateful for the opportunities I get," Arshdeep said.
Mohsin Khan was the star performer for LSG with 3-24 and claimed the key wicket of Liam Livingstone. The left-arm pacer credited the team management for encouragement.
"When I came here, the coaches told me to keep doing what I do always. I got the confidence here after three years at Mumbai where there weren't many opportunities," Mohsin said.
