Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins felt that his side was let down by the bowlers, which included him, as well, as they dished up too many bad balls for Gujarat Titans’ batters to make merry and post a huge total of 224/6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 2 (Friday).
SRH, despite batting well, failed to get even close to the target, as they were restricted to 186/6 in their 20 overs.
Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Cummins said, “Our powerplay with the ball wasn't great. We gave away 20 too many there. If you bowl bad balls, they put them away, and we dish up many bad balls.”
Shubman Gill, the winning captain, whose team also reached the top of the IPL 2025 points table, was asked about the strong emotions that he showed to umpires while fielding.
Answering that, Gill said, “There are so many emotions, you give 110% on the field, sometimes you're bound to show emotions.”
The skipper also praised the bowlers for restricting SRH to 186. “Everyone is chipping in - Prasidh, Ishant, even Coetzee - making it easier to defend a score,” he added.
Prasidh Krishna was named Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling where he picked up 2/19 in his four overs and wrestled back the purple cap from Josh Hazlewood with his 19th wicket of IPL 2025.
The speedster from Karnataka was impressed upon the fact that winning the game is always his first priority.
“Winning was key. We've had two long breaks. Getting a win at home was important,” he said, before revealing how he planned to bowl on match days.
“On game day, you watch every ball of the first innings if you're bowling second. Take all that you can. Then have chats with the experienced players around, then hit the right areas and take it from there,” he added.
