Himanshu Sangwan, who dismissed Virat Kohli in the legend’s domestic cricket return during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, is over the moon with his feat.
In a recent interaction with a national daily, the Railways bowler, who has his roots in Delhi itself, for whom he played age-group cricket, said that even Kohli was appreciative of the delivery that dismissed him.
The 29-year-old had cleaned up Kohli with a brilliant in-swinger on Day 2 of the game which Railways eventually lost by an innings and 14 runs.
“When I gave him (Kohli) the ball to sign it, he asked ‘Is this the same ball from which you got me out? Kya gend tha yaar maza aa gaya (what a beautiful delivery it was)‘”, Sangwan was quoted as saying to The Indian Express.
“Kaafi teekhe bowler ho (you are a good bowler). Keep working hard. Best wishes for your future,” the 36-year-old Indian modern-day great had added, according to Sangwan.
Sangwan is a ticket collector at the Old Delhi Railway Station. The 29-year-old has an exceptional first-class record, having now taken 81 wickets at an average of 19.61.
