Musheer Khan, the younger brother of India’s Test batter Sarfaraz Khan, couldn’t control his emotions after receiving a bat from his idol Virat Kohli following the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 20 (Sunday).
In a video released by PBKS, Musheer said: "Mein toh ro hi diya bhaiya ke saamne [I started crying when he gave me the bat]. I told bhaiyya, I have scored a lot of runs from your bat. Sarfaraz bhai always used to give me your gifted bats.”
Musheer, who was picked by PBKS for INR 30 lakh, has had a fantastic start to his first-class career for Mumbai. The spin-bowling all-rounder has scored 716 runs in nine games at an average of 51.14 and also picked up eight wickets.
Musheer, however, is yet to make his white-ball debut for his state, Mumbai. The 20-year-old has also not played for PBKS so far in the IPL 2025.
PBKS lost to RCB by seven wickets but are still at No.4 on the IPL 2025 points table. They have won five of their eight games so far and will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26.
