Will be an emotional moment if I break Sachin Tendulkar's record: Virat Kohli

With 46 ODI tons to his name, Kohli is just four more away from breaking the record

Virat Kohli is just four away from going past Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 49 One-Day International (ODI) centuries. Kohli currently has 46 centuries to his name in the format in 265 innings, while Tendulkar scored 49 in 452 innings. He went through a bit of a century drought, but scored his first ton in three years in December 2022 against Bangladesh and since then, has scored two more.

Speaking of the prospect of breaking the record, Kohli said, "it will be a very emotional moment for me". 

Kohli, speaking at an event organised by PUMA, Kohli also stressed the importance of sports, regardless of one's profession.

"Sports teaches you some values of life, discipline and planning. It opens up your side, making you a productive person. No matter your profession, the value of playing sport is immense," the former India skipper said.

Kohli, who is currently plying his trade with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, where he has scored 420 runs at a strike-rate of 133.75, which includes six fifties in 11 innings. India will look to Kohli to once again deliver in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia next month.
