The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will, for the first time in history, have 12 teams participating in it, two more than the 10 that did in the previous edition, hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2024.
The top five teams in the T20 World Cup 2024, hosts England and the top three ranked teams amongst the remaining participants at the T20 World Cup 2024, have already qualified for the mega event to be hosted in England from June 12 to July 5.
To decide the remaining four teams, the global Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifiers will be hosted by Nepal, which will be the biggest event in the country’s cricketing history.
The event will be hosted at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu from January 12 to February 2.
Apart from hosts Nepal, who are one of the top two teams from Asia and thereby into the global qualifier, Thailand (top two in Asia Regional Qualifier), the USA (Winner Americas Regional Qualifier) and Bangladesh and Scotland, who ranked outside of top eight at the end of T20 World Cup 2024, have confirmed their seats in the 10 tournament.
Along with them, two teams from Africa, two from Europe and one from the East Asia Pacific regional qualifiers will qualify for the global event.
These 10 teams will then be divided into two groups. The top three from each group will move to the Super Six. From there, the top four teams will move to the T20 World Cup in 2026.
A detailed schedule for the event will be announced by the ICC at a later date when all the teams for the tournament are confirmed.
