With the World Test Championship final between India and Australia kick-starting on June 7 at the Oval in London, Indian players, whose teams are out of reckoning in the IPL 2023, have started to depart for the assignment.
While the likes of head coach Rahul Dravid, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj have travelled on May 23, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin will leave on May 24. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav, whose teams are still a part of the IPL, will be leaving for London after the tournament is over.
According to Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have sent Akash Deep and Pulkit Narang as part of the first batch, Aniket Choudhary and Prithvi Raj Yarra will join later as net bowlers. With India not going to play any official warm-up games, net bowlers have become a very important part of the strategy.
"There may be departures every day till May 30. Logistics arrangements are being made for almost every day,” a BCCI official told Cricbuzz.
Additionally, it is reported that Jaydev Unadkat, who had been ruled out of the Indian Premier League with a shoulder injury and is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, is expected to be fit for the WTC final. He, in all probability, will join the team after May 27.
