'You have earned the right to fail when you are so good," Warner on Kohli's form

The India captain has failed to score an international century since November 2019

The fact that Virat Kohli has not scored a century in international cricket since 2019 is well documented and often talked about. Australia opener David Warner has however come out in support of Kohli, saying that he is allowed to fail given how prolific he has been across formats over the years.

“A lot of people talk about Virat Kohli's form over the last couple of years. We have gone through a pandemic. He has just had a baby. We only see how well he has done. You are allowed to fail," Warner said on the show 'Backstage with Boria.'

"You have earned the right to fail when you are so good at what you do. People say Steve Smith doesn't score a century in his fourth innings because stats say he scores a century every four innings. He is human. You are allowed to have a rough trot. That is why there are a lot more pressure on those guys. But would not feel the pressure, I guarantee that,” he added.

Kohli, who missed the second Test due to back spasms is expected to be fit and available for the series-decider at the Newlands, Cape Town, starting January 11.

India won the first Test at Centurion by 113 runs but the hosts bounced back to level the series at the Wanderers. A win in Cape Town will see India winning their first-ever Test series on South Africa soil.
