The England stars have shown in The Hundred 2025 and before that in the Test series against India that they can attract the Indian audience big time with their big-hitting abilities, entertaining style of cricket, camaraderie and sledging and, most importantly, with their presence. Thus, it makes them perfect Indian Premier League (IPL) material.
While we have had English players participate in the IPL in large numbers of late, more often than not they are white-ball specialists. Thus, it would be a hearty introduction if big English Test stars are brought into the IPL.
Here are three big England players that would most likely be available for the IPL 2026 auction.
In The Hundred 2025, English Test opener Zak Crawley has shown his white ball speciality, smashing 214 runs in six innings at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 164 with two fifties in his kitty. It could be called a coming-of-age innings for the right-hander who didn’t have great T20 numbers to boast of before the competition.
The 27-year-old had featured in 88 T20s before The Hundred 2025 and scored 2074 runs at an average of less than 27 and with a strike rate in the early 130s.
Thus, this Hundred stint has been a breath of fresh air, and in time, he will also be participating in the SA20, where he can show much more of his white-ball prowess and can thus project himself as one of the top attractions at the IPL 2026 auction.
Ben Duckett has had a bucket full of runs since 2022. While he has not had a desirable The Hundred 2025 as far as the first six matches are concerned, scoring just 54 runs and striking at only 100, he otherwise packs a solid punch.
With class by his side and a total of 5323 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 140 with 34 fifties, he certainly has a great chance of being picked in the IPL 2026 Auction as he provides a wicketkeeping option as well.
Mark Wood, whenever he is fit, is the first choice of IPL franchises. It is his fitness and not skills that has been the deciding factor in him being picked in the IPL auction or not.
With no cricket on his plate since February 2025, when he featured in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Wood is giving it his all in the training to get fit for the all-important Ashes 2025-26 Down Under. If he manages to get through the Ashes, he will be one of the top picks in the IPL 2026 auction for sure.
As for numbers, the 35-year-old has 85 wickets in 63 T20s at a strike rate of 15.2 and an economy rate of 8.21, which are considered great for a fast bowler.
