Afridi takes five as Pakistan complete 2-0 series whitewash

Zimbabwe's last pair survived just over 20 minutes as Pakistan won by an innings and 147 runs

It took Pakistan 31 deliveries to take Zimbabwe's final wicket on day four and complete a 2-0 series whitewash at the Harare Sports Club on Monday (May 10). It was Shaheen Afridi who took the final wicket and got his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

The job was almost done on day three and the visitors commenced the proceedings with Afridi and Tabish Khan. Both Luke Jongwe (37) and Blessing Muzarabani (4*) slammed a boundary each, via a straight drive, before the former was caught behind while trying to chase a wide delivery from Afridi.

The left-arm paceman registered his career-best figures - 5/52. Earlier on day three, Nauman Ali had already completed his five-wicket haul, while Hasan Ali did the same in the first innings. This was the first time three Pakistan bowlers picked up a five-for each in a single Test.

Earlier, the three Alis starred with the bat for Pakistan in the first innings. Abid scored 215*, while Azhar smashed 126. Coming in at No. 9, Nauman then smoked 97 off 104 deliveries and broke the confidence of Zimbabwe. The hosts were bowled out for just 132 in response to Pakistan's 510/8 (decl).

Asked to follow-on, Regis Chakabva (137-ball 80), Brendan Taylor (31-ball 49) and Jongwe put up some fight in the second innings but it was never going to be enough. Abid was named Player of the Match, while Hasan was named Player of the Series for taking 14 wickets in two encounters.

Pakistan players will now be involved in PSL before flying to England in July for three ODIs and as many T20Is. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are scheduled to host Bangladesh next month.
