Since his Test debut in 2013, Rohit Sharma's ODI knocks have been the top score for India each year. The table below lists all the details.

In the first ODI at Sydney only five Indian bowlers were used in Australia’s huge total. Is this the highest total where only five bowlers were used?Sujan Ghosh on Twitter

This is now a new record. Australia’s 374/6 at Sydney is now the highest total in ODI cricket where only five bowlers were used by the opposition. Other than India, who did so on three occasions, England & Ireland are the two bowling sides to use five bowlers in a large ODI total as given in the table below.

Note:

* The bowlers in the Hamilton match bowled second.

* In all the above instances the batting side won.

* in the above list Indian bowlers have done it on three occasions.

In the second ODI at Sydney five Australian batsmen made scores over fifty. Is this some kind of a record?Sujan Ghosh on Twitter

Five batsmen scoring 50+ scores in the same ODI innings has occurred on three occasions – once by Pakistan and twice by Australia. And the last two instances, both by Australia, came from their top five batsmen. The table below list all the three instances.

Note:

** Australia lost the Jaipur ODI.

** Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell are the only batsmen to be involved in such a feat on two separate occasions.

** For the record, other than the three instances listed above, there have been 66 instances of sides registering four fifty-plus scores in the same innings.

T Natarajan on his ODI debut conceded 70 runs at Canberra. Is this the most conceded by a bowler on his ODI debut?S Rajan on Twitter

That record is held by Ireland’s pace bowler Peter Connell who against the country where he was born, i.e. New Zealand at Aberdeen on 1 July 2008 had figures of 9-0-95-0 on his ODI debut. Natarajan by conceding 70 runs is the fourth-most by an Indian debutant in this format. The table below has the details.

Note: Both Siraj and Natarajan’s figures came in a winning cause, while the Oval match was a no result match!

How many players have made 99 in T20 international cricket?Suresh Bhaskar on Twitter

In the recent T20I match at Cape Town, England’s Dawid Malan fell one short of a three-figure score against South Africa when he took his side to an easy victory while chasing the home side’s total of 191/3. He thus became the third batsman in T20I cricket to miss a hundred by one run. Interestingly, now all three unfortunate batsmen are from England, with two of them remaining unbeaten. The table has the details.

Note

** England won all the three games.

** Wright did so while batting first.

** Ravi Rampaul is the only bowler to dismiss a batsman for 99 in T20I cricket.

All records mentioned above are correct and updated as on 6 December 2020.
