It was absolute carnage in Mackay on August 24 (Sunday) as Australia posted 431/2 in their 50 overs against South Africa, thanks to centuries from Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green. In doing so, Australia have registered their second-highest One-Day International (ODI) total.
Their highest total before today was 434/4 against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2006, which they eventually ended up losing.

While Head and Marsh registered the highest opening stand against South Africa in ODIs, Green was also not too far behind in breaking a massive Australia record.
Green got to his century - his first in ODIs - off just 47 deliveries, making him the second-fastest Australian to the landmark after Glenn Maxwell, who got their off just 40 deliveries against the Netherlands in Delhi during the ODI World Cup 2023.

Green got to the landmark with a strike rate of over 212, in the 48th over of the match, with a push towards mid-wicket. This is the first time three Australian players have scored a century in an ODI innings.
South Africa have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Green was going through a lean patch before this, with scores of 35, 3, 9, 9 and 35 in his previous five innings in white-ball cricket. However, Australia's No. 3 has responded with a resounding century in this game, much to his relief.
