Delhi Capitals’ skipper Axar Patel had the worst night of his Indian Premier League (IPL) life, conceding 52 runs off his four overs in the clash against RCB on April 10 (Thursday). On a pitch which was very unlike the usual Chinnaswamy Stadium strip, where there was turn on offer, Axar registered his joint-worst bowling figures.
Axar introduced himself in the powerplay, where he bowled two overs, conceding 16 runs off his very first over against Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. Prior to this innings, the left-arm spinner had the wood over the English opener, dismissing him twice and conceding just six runs across ten balls.
But cometh the hour, Salt smashed ten runs off Axar’s two overs in the powerplay, and Kohli ten runs. It was after his first spell that DC made a comeback in the innings, as the two spinners - Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav - turned the clash around its head.

While the leg-spinner finished with figures of 2/18 across his four overs, the Indian star spinner Kuldeep finished one better with figures of 2/17, as the duo finished their entire spell with figures of 4/35.
However, single-handedly, Axar conceded 17 runs off his last over, ending with figures of 0/52, his joint-worst spell in IPL history. Eight years ago, the left-arm spinner finished with figures of 0/52 against Kolkata Knight Riders in Indore.
