Kane Williamson’s stint as a T20 freelancer continues, as the former New Zealand captain is all set to replace Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam at Durban’s Super Giants in SA 2026. According to ESPNCricinfo’s reports, the Bangladeshi left-arm spinner won’t be available for the upcoming edition.
However, it won’t be a new atmosphere for Williamson, as the New Zealand batter represented the franchise last year, where he amassed 233 runs at an average of 46.6 in eight games. The right-hander was DSG’s best batter in what was otherwise a dull year for the franchise at the SA20.
Despite his T20I retirement, Williamson is active on the T20 franchise circuit, having already played SA20, The Hundred and the Vitality Blast in 2025. In 2026, Williamson is also expected to be one of DSG’s main players alongside Noor Ahmad, Jos Buttler and Sunil Narine (both pre-signed).
SA20 2025/26 will begin on December 26 (Friday), with DSG taking on champions, MI Cape Town.
