Former New Zealand batter Colin Munro smashed his sixth T20 century, joining the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill to the landmark. Turning up for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, Munro got to his ton off just 50 deliveries against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) at Basseterre.
He was eventually dismissed for 120 off just 57 deliveries, which is the joint third-highest individual score in the CPL, only behind Brandon King (132*) and Andre Russell (121*). The southpaw got to his fifty off just 21 deliveries, and it came inside the powerplay.
Munro laid the platform with a 114-run opening partnership off just 55 deliveries with Alex Hales (47). Once Hales was dismissed, Munro pretty much did the heavy lifting to take TKR to a massive total. The Knight Riders finished with 231/5, which is their third-highest total in CPL.
This was also his second CPL century, and has as many as 16 fifties in the tournament. Among New Zealand batters, Munro has joined level with Martin Guptill, who also has six tons in the format and is now only behind Brendon McCullum, who hit seven.
At 38y 159d, Munro is also the oldest player to hit a century in the CPL after Chris Gayle, who got there at the age of 39y 354d.
The left-hander returned to TKR after one season with the Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) in 2023, where he managed just 175 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 120.68.
