David and Pollard fined for sending DRS signals from the dressing room

During the Punjab Kings-Mumbai Indians game at Mullanpur on April 18 (Friday), Suryakumar Yadav sought a review for a call in the very last second

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Tim David and coach Kieron Pollard have been fined 20% of their respective match fees after having breached the BCCI Code of Conduct regarding sending signals to the ground about DRS calls.

During the Punjab Kings-Mumbai Indians game at Mullanpur on April 18 (Friday), Suryakumar Yadav sought a review for a call in the very last second - which was objected by Punjab Kings skipper Sam Curran.

However, umpires had observed that Mumbai Indians dug-out were sending signals to the ground regarding the review but were confident that Yadav didn’t look at that before going for the review. Hence, they allowed the review to stand, but the BCCI fined the duo of Pollard and David according to their playing conditions.

"David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20% of their respective match fees. Both admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding,” BCCI released said.

According to the Playing conditions, "If the on-field umpires believe that the captain or either batter has received direct or indirect input emanating other than from the players on the field, then they may at their discretion, decline the request for a Player Review. In particular, signals from the dressing room must not be given."

During the match, the decision came in Suryakumar’s favour and the original decision of Out was changed to Not Out.
