NEWSRishabh Pant, who was recently appointed captain of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season put out a video on Twitter in which he thanked the management for appointing him as skipper and added that he was hopeful of going all the way this time.
DC reached the final of the tournament for the first-ever time last season but finished second-best against Mumbai Indians (MI) who won the title for a record fifth time. In his short 10-second video, Pant said," Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I will try to give my 100 percent each and every day. Hopefully, we will cross the line this year."

DC head coach Ricky Ponting had put his weight behind Pant saying that he deserved to be the captain of the franchise considering his recent performances for India with the bat. He also acknowledged that captaincy will make him a better player.
Pant was named captain after Shreyas Iyer injured his shoulder in the first One-Day International (ODI) against England in Pune. He is expected to undergo surgery, which could potentially keep him out of action for months.
Pant on his appointment as captain in a media release said, "Delhi is where I grew up, and where my IPL journey began six years ago. To lead this team one day is a dream I've always harboured. And today, as that dream comes true, I feel humbled. I am truly grateful, especially to our team owners, who considered me capable enough for this role. With an amazing coaching staff and a plethora of accomplished seniors around me, I can't wait to give my absolute best for Delhi Capitals."
Delhi kickstart their IPL 2021 campaign against the three-time Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 10.
