Cameron Green's catch to dismiss Shubman Gill in the fourth innings of the summit clash of the World Test Championship has divided the cricketing pundits and fans.
The Aussie all-rounder held onto a low diving catch at gully off Scott Boland to help Australia get their first wicket at the stroke of tea on Day four. However, despite the replays not being conclusive, the third umpire adjudged it out.
In the post-match press conference, Green stated he indeed caught the ball, and it was the right call by the third umpire. "I think at the time, I definitely thought I caught it," he said.
"I think in the heat of the moment, I thought it was clean and threw it up and obviously showed no sign of any doubt basically. And then it's left up to the third umpire, and he agreed, so yeah."
"I put a lot of time and effort into fielding. I think growing up, always try to get myself in first or second slip, and I have done that basically my whole junior career."
"So yeah, I back myself that I can take a few nice catches. A bit disappointed on the first day dropping that one, but yeah, it's always nice to repay, basically," he further added.
The 24-year-old also stated that Australia would have to be patient on Day five and believes one or two wickets will help them come back on top in this game.
"With the Indian crowd, they get you up and about, and they make you think that you're behind the game when you might not be."
"I think it'll be crucial as it was today to kind of keep our nerve and kind of know that yeah - one or two wickets and we’re back on top. We have to definitely be patient,"
"I still think there's a lot in the wicket. I think potentially, if anything, it might have been the ball getting a bit softer. Fortunately, we got a nice rest now and come hard."
We got a great opportunity when we get the second new ball as well. Not too much stress in the change room," he concluded.
