England will be in India and play a T20I series at different venues for the first time since 2017 when they played a three-match T20I series. Their last five-match series, though, was in 2021, but all matches were played under Covid restrictions at a single venue at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
For the first T20I of their five-match series against India, the Jos Buttler-led side has already reached Kolkata, where the match will be played between the home side led by Suryakumar Yadav and the visitors at the iconic Eden Gardens from 7PM IST onwards on January 22 (Wednesday).
The Indian squad for the series was announced on January 11, where Mohammed Shami made a comeback to international competitive cricket after more than a year of rehab and match-fitness training since injuring himself during the final of the ODI World Cup 2023.
