The first Test of the epic five-match series between India and England has reached an interesting stage as Team India will enter Day 4 at 90/2 with a lead of 96 runs. KL Rahul is looking strong on 47* and captain Shubman Gill has come out with a positive intent to bat.
Looking ahead to Day 4 of the India vs England Test match at Headingley, here's what could happen:
India have done well on the fourth day of Tests in the last couple of years, with an average of 38.9, which is the best for any team. They have scored at an excellent run rate of 4.2, which is bettered only by their opponents, England. With Rahul and Gill showcasing positive intent, expect Team India to score at a similar rate tomorrow.
Shubman Gill has a record of doing well in the second innings compared to the first. With the pitch flattening out, run-scoring in the latter half of the Test match is a lot easier than in the first couple of days. Gill, who is looking to improve his record outside home, has managed to maintain a good record on Day 4, averaging 56.5 and striking at 70.
Shoaib Bashir has grown as a bowler in Tests since his debut against India in early 2024. Like other spinners who take advantage of the rough created on the pitch on Days 4 and 5, Bashir too has managed to do so, maintaining a bowling average of 28.6, which is his best on any day. It will be interesting to see how much he will trouble the Indian batters on Monday.
Weather Prediction For Day 4
Expect nice warm weather for Monday in Leeds, with almost zero chances of rain. The sun is expected to shine for at least half of the day. There might be possible cloud cover in the second half of the day.
