After flirting around a bit on the fringes for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup, it has now been confirmed that the swashbuckling opener hasn’t found a place in the 15-member squad. It leaves India with an opening pair in prime form - Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana.
However, there are some issues over the No.3 position, given that Harleen Deol did not take up her chances in the three-match ODI series against England. Elsewhere, Yastika Bhatia put on a splendid show with the Indian A side in Australia, which brings her back in contention, especially with India having only one left-hander in the middle-order.
How about the bowling unit? A lot of puzzle-solving is needed in that particular department as India look to lift their maiden ODI World Cup title at home.
