3 Unlikely Bowlers Who Have Dismissed Virat Kohli In IPL
Which bowler were you surprised by the most?
Without a shadow of a doubt, Virat Kohli is among the top players in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. He is, after all, the leading run-getter in the tournament and has played all his matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
In such a long career, there are bound to be surprises, and we are exploring a few such incidents where Kohli has been dismissed by bowlers who you wouldn't expect.
Dewald Brevis
1 ball, 1 wicket - Now that's a perfect record. It took South Africa "bowler" Dewald Brevis just one ball to dismiss Kohli in the IPL. Incidentally, that was Brevis' first ball in the IPL and what a scalp to have under your belt.
It was a superb ball from Brevis as well, who slid the ball in, beat Kohli on the inside edge and trapped him leg before. That remains his only wicket in the IPL to date.
Brad Hodge
Kohli was just about making his name in international cricket when he ran into Brad Hodge in the IPL in 2009 at Kindsmead, Durban. Kohli faced three balls from Hodge.
One disappeared for a six, the other was a single, and then he was caught behind. It got better for Hodge as he dismissed Kevin Pietersen two deliveries later.
Suresh Raina
Known as Mr. IPL for his ability to score runs at crucial junctures and deliver for his team, Suresh Raina was no mug with the ball. Raina has got rid of Kohli only once in seven innings - in the 2011 final - at Chepauk.
Overall, Raina picked up 25 wickets in the IPL in 205 matches with his part-time off-spin.
