Delhi Capitals (DC) have confirmed the appointment of 40-year-old Faf du Plessis as their vice-captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League season. The franchise took to social media on March 17 (Monday) to announce their decision, ignoring KL Rahul, who everyone expected to be in some sort of leadership role.
Faf was a successful leader in the last edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), helping the St Lucia Kings to a title. However, elsewhere, in both Major League Cricket (MLC) and SA20, the 40-year-old hasn’t led his team to the silverware.
As recently as last year, Faf was still actively leading the IPL when he led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the playoffs, beating arch-rivals CSK in the last group stage game.
